WHAT TO WEAR: Not Quite Sweater Weather

November in North Carolina isn’t exactly cold. On days like today, it’s a bit breezy and can be chilly in the shade, but in the sun you can it expect to be significantly warmer. Because of that, layering is extremely important in outfits. As much as I’d love to wear sweaters every day, it’s just not cold enough yet. You have to be able to take off and put on clothes throughout the day because the temperature fluctuates so much. Because of this, I’ve come to love wearing light jackets with almost any outfit.

This look combines all of the early fall essentials. A neutral, olive colored top brings in the darker fall colors without being to heavy to layer under a jacket. Jeans are versatile in any season, and work well cuffed just above ankle booties in the fall. Light colored suede booties (these are in the color brindle) are great for fall weather. The light tan color makes them work with almost any outfit, whether it be casual jeans or a cute dress. You can add knit socks and let them peek out over the tops, or leave them not showing, depending on the outfit. Also, suede gives the look a more wintery feel, as it’s typically worn in the colder seasons.

A leather jacket is a very versatile piece. This outfit adds an interesting twist on the classic moto jacket. By using light shades of leather and combining colors in the lapels and side pieces, it adds dimension and style to an otherwise monotone jacket. The zipper details add a slightly edgier feel, and by pairing it with just neutral colors, this look has all of the fall vibes. By adding just a large, light brown bag, the simple accessories tie this look together.  With the details in the jacket, you wouldn’t want to over accessorize a look like this. It’s perfect for a casual day out, running some errands, or just going to class if you feel like dressing a bit nicer that day! You could add a scarf if it was a bit colder, or take off the jacket when it warms up! Every Fashionista needs a versatile look like this one.
