WHAT TO WEAR: Nor'easter Style

February 10th, 2017 at 2:00am

It’s been an crazy month weather wise here on the Jersey Shore. We were at the tail end of a Nor’easter during the last week of January. I headed to campus as I was starting a new class. It was freezing rain, so I didn’t expect to photograph anyone but I did have my camera. As I was passing through a walkway I spotted a trench coat, umbrella, and a really cool pair of boots. I had to ask this Fashionisto if he would be willing to tolerate the cold rainy weather for an impromptu photo shoot.

I found an interesting backdrop for the shoot that I’ve never noticed before, even though I have walked past it several times before. So, this month I’m featuring an artistic soul. This Fashionisto likes to think outside of the box when it comes to style. One of his favorite designers at the moment is Kanye West, because he appreciates the simplicity of his designs and enjoys the fact that they are comfortable, yet still stylish.

His outfit consisted of stylish outerwear and layering. He took an all-black canvas and added just the right touches of color, each piece complemented each other well. Starting with black jeans from Calvin Klein, he added a long sleeve curved hem shirt with thumbholes which are perfect for cold days like this one. Then, he layered a flat metallic T-shirt over top, which was purchased from a thrift shop. The textured combat boots by Polar Fox add a great touch to the look color and contrast wise. For outerwear, this Fashionisto wore a London Fog trench coat and print gloves. He came prepared for the weather by carrying a simple black umbrella. To complete his look, he added a head accessory tied ninja style. This addition compliments his eclectic style. Overall, his look is functional and fashionable, he is able to brave the weather, and he looks good doing it.

This Fashionisto has a really good eye when it comes to putting an outfit together and adding just the right touch to give it edge. He has a very diverse style range and loves to express himself in many different ways. Ironically, this Fashionisto designs and creates some of his own clothing as well!
