WHAT TO WEAR: Meeting With A Professor

What to Wear

You are awake at 8 o’clock on a Monday morning when your first class doesn’t start until noon. Why? You need to make your professor’s office hours. Professors always seem to schedule the worst availability hours to discuss class material, papers and projects. But when it comes to whether you are going to pass the course or not, best believe you will be at that professor’s door before she is even there.

Meeting with a professor can be both intimidating and nerve-wracking. Whether it is a question you have or a grade that needs bumping, office hours can be a frightening experience. However, the way you dress for this occasion will affect your confidence when talking to that person of authority. You want your look to be classy and sophisticated without dressing too fancy or formal. The outfit you pick should scream, “I mean business,” so the professor takes you seriously when you enter for your inquiry.

This Fashionista deserves an A+ job for her ability to look both stylish and studious for an encounter with a teacher. The piece that instantly caught my attention was, of course, her brightly colored paisley dress. This item is a perfect combination of cute and conservative.  A high neckline, a banded waist and a pleated bottom gives this dress the opportunity to be dressed up or down. Over this sleeveless dress she wore an oversized black knit sweater which is perfect for walking around campus on these chilly fall days. To further this modest ensemble, she added plain black tights under her dress and slipped on simple black flats. Now there is no way that this best dressed student won’t get that grade she’s pushing for. An outfit such as this one will make any professor realize her seriousness and commitment to her studies.

One Simple Change: If your planning on meeting up with friends later trade your flats for lace-up combat boots and give yourself a bright lip.
