It’s Thursday and only one more day until the weekend; however, for some of our fortunate friends out there, your weekend is already underway. Most of us try to get all our work done during the week so that the weekends are as stress free as possible, at least, that’s what I try to do! This week’s column is all about what to wear when getting dressed for the library. The whole idea is to dress comfy and look fashion-forward at the same time.
While walking into Carrier Library the other day I spotted a JMU Fashionista. She was wearing the perfect outfit for a day in the library that was causal, yet appropriate. She was sporting a camel colored cardigan from Urban Outfitters with a charcoal gray thermal underneath. Her black Nike leggings kept her warm yet added simplicity to the get-up. I love how she adds a pop of color with her South Moon Under patterned head wrap. She completes her look with her favorite combat boots and a pair of her go-to gray thermal socks, which add warmth while walking to the library.
This Fashionista’s outfit caught my eye because it was polished. You could tell she put some effort in what she said she just “threw” on. Most students assume that since they are going to the library it is appropriate to grab the items on top of the clean clothes pile. However, the library is one of the only places on campus that almost everyone takes advantage of. Professors, recruiters and professionals often frequent the building to do research or look for their future interns. So it is always a good idea to dress appropriate because you never know if your future employer is observing you!
One Simple Change: Take away the black leggings and add a pair of patterned leggings, this will spice up a rather plain outfit!
