As we celebrate the end of Maymester finals, the clouds of Short Sessions and Thru Sessions loom near. I caught this gamine Fashionista heading towards the library to study for her aforementioned finals. Armed with Breton stripes, chambray Keds and an adorable pixie cut, this Fashionista was sure to defeat her dreaded exams.
This laid back look is perfect for library studying. It seems as though whenever the temperature outside is raised even a few degrees, the temperature inside drops to somewhere in the negatives. As such, libraries are notoriously cold, much like movie theatres or malls. This Fashionista’s long sleeve top mixed with the denim shorts, pulls a nice balance— warm in the cold and comfortable in the heat. An added bonus? Breton stripes. A calling card for summer at the Hamptons (or Venetian gondoliers), Breton stripes remain a nautical staple across regions.
Finishing off the outfit, the chambray Keds are perfect for all-around summer activities; they charm while providing practicality, a trait not common in women’s shoes. In fact, this Fashionista was in the process of trading her bike riding for browsing the stacks. Combined with the socks, the shoes give the look a vibe somewhere between tomboy, grandma, Tavi Gevinson and girl-next-door.
With her short hair and delightful, All-American ensemble, this Fashionista portrays the summer ingénue to a T.
One Simple Change: Switch out those wonderful Keds for a pair of colorful wedges and you’ve got yourself a look that can transition from books to coffee downtown.
