WHAT TO WEAR: Layers and Leather

Going to school in New York City is no walk in the park during the middle of winter, even when it is unseasonably warm. The winds are brisk, the air is crisp but the fashion is to die for! I caught this Fashionisto on campus walking with no rush at all to his next class, bundled up and super stylish. Layered up with the perfect accessories, this Fashionisto knew exactly what to wear to make sure that he was warm and stylish.

Neutral colors have been quite a fad this year and can be done in many different ways. The most classic is pairing a complete outfit in unifying colors, then using accessories or patterns to make your look especially unique. This Fashionisto, who is in his senior year, wore a simplistic ensemble that was the perfect outfit for a gloomy Monday morning. Pairing a simple pair of black jeans, a classic black peacoat and gray scarf with the contrasting stark white adidas Stan Smith sneakers gave a fresh and up-to-date look on neutral colors. It’s very easy to make black look boring or overdone, but this Fashionisto knew what he was doing with his outfit choice!

The sharp white against the deep black surprises your eyes. While the gray bag which he called a “quick grab bag” was the perfect addition to accent the gray scarf wrapped several times around his neck. Placed precisely over top of the scarf was a necklace which he says he wears everyday relentlessly, whether it’s cold or hot outside.

The last addition to tie this ensemble together was the use of a leather messenger bag. The leather showed just the right amount of wear and tear making it look completely authentic. You would assume that carrying around two bags would make this Fashionisto look cluttered, but on the contrary as a student he looked organized and compact. So if you’re looking for the perfect on campus look that keeps you both organized and warm, this is the way to go.
