WHAT TO WEAR: Keeping Fall a Little Funky

We’ve waited patiently for the return of pumpkin spice lattes and watched Halloweentown on repeat. Now, we can finally celebrate this perfect weather by transitioning our wardrobe from summer to fall in the best way possible. You heard me, it’s time to dust off those long sleeve swing dresses, put your Hendrix record on, and feel funky!

While Mississippi goes through this cycle of having three seasons in one day, we are enjoying the refreshing breeze in the morning, earlier sunsets and watching the trees shed it’s leaves in the most enchanting way possible. While it’s not something I’m particularly happy about, I am absolutely thrilled about this season’s upcoming trends. Velvets are making a come back, booties are back on the shelves and winter coats are filling up the racks at our favorite shops.

As I am taking a casual stroll through the gardens near campus, I see this beauty so effortlessly become the poster child for Jimi Hendrix’s “Foxy Lady”, so naturally, she became topic of conversation. Her dress is a Free People staple piece that should be in every ladies closet, and she pairs it Red Square leather booties with vintage rings and accessories. A woman of my own heart!

As for my style advice, let’s all keep things fun and funky! Wear what makes you feel beautiful and confident. When the weather gets cooler, slip on a pair of your most comfortable destroyed denim to give yourself that edginess every style blogger is doting. Wear what you like and what feels goes well together. Fashion is about self expression and having fun, so play it by ear and enjoy yourself. And don’t forget to dance in front of the mirror to your go-to BeyoncĂ© anthem of female empowerment as you are getting ready to take on the day!
