WHAT TO WEAR: Interviews

October 5th, 2016 at 2:10am

Your outfit is the first impression you make when interviewing for a job or internship. It should be polished and professional, and show off your personal style in the best way possible. This Fashionista is a total girl boss, inspiring others one blazer at a time. Even though interviews may be scary, dressing for them doesn’t have to be.

Blazers are a girl’s best friend on the day of an interview. They are the difference between business casual and business professional, and seriously make you look like you know what you’re doing (even if you don’t). A one-button black blazer like the one this Fashionista is wearing is recommended because it is so versatile and will match pretty much any blouse in your closet.

Since fall hasn’t quite hit the Tallahassee area yet and it’s still a little warm, a pair of slim ankle pants are the way to go. One day, we’ll get to reach for the boot cut, but sadly, today is not that day. The all-important ankle pant can be dressed up or down, and they give dimension to your look as well.

Now, the really important question on the day of an interview is, “Which shoes should I wear?” Really, what you should be asking yourself is, “Which shoes can I comfortably walk in?” If you are a heels girl and can walk into an office without stumbling everywhere, I say go for it. If you strive to be comfortable, then take advice from our Fashionista and reach for those nude ballet flats instead, just to be safe.

Ultimately, accessories are crucial to your interview attire. They should not be distracting, so think simple and elegant. You cannot go wrong with a classic silver charm necklace and stud diamond earrings. This Fashionista mixed her metals and threw on a gold knot cuff bracelet, which paired perfectly with her tortoise shell Fossil watch. You have to make sure you’re on time!

Which purse? Henri Bendel. That is all. Grab a bag that’s big enough to hold your portfolio, resume or business cards, and slay that interview!
