No matter where you are in the city of Chicago, you are likely to find people dressed professionally on any given weekday. With so many businessmen and women in and around the city, it’s pretty easy to say that Chicago is a fashionable business city. Most of its inhabitants are young and trendy which makes it all the more exciting to shop for business clothes. Being on a college campus in such a large city gives me ample opportunity to spot my peers going off to interviews. I see a handful of them everyday dressed to the nines anxiously staring at their notebooks for last minute information on a company.
This Fashionista was one of the many I saw this week on her way to an interview downtown. She was interviewing with a company whose office is right on Michigan Avenue so she had no choice but to look fabulous. For her interview on a hot September morning she chose to wear a knee-length flowy skirt and a classic long sleeve button-down. Since she had a lot of walking to do, she wore cute gold flats to the office instead of the heels.
This Fashionista’s outfit choice was perfect for her interview. Choosing an appropriate length for her skirt and a classic blouse boosted her overall level of professionalism. The gold flats pair perfectly with the gold watch on her wrist. Because this Fashionista dressed to impress, she told me that her confidence level already high. With her attitude, her girly professional style and her brains she is a shoe-in for the internship!
One Simple Change: To turn this outfit from professional to summery, swap out the longer flowly skirt for a pair of high-waisted cut-off jean shorts. With this change, our Fashionista is now ready for any end of summer activity such as a bonfire or a beach day.
