WHAT TO WEAR: Internships

June 15th, 2015 at 2:10am

As a college student, you are either looking for an internship this summer to get your foot in the door or you’re rocking an amazing opportunity already. Either way, those long hours, the hard work and countless errands can only be topped off with the right outfit. When you dress the part, you are speaking volumes about your effort and eagerness to belong and showing your employer that you care. Internships are an essential step you have to take as a college student to gain hands-on experience in the industry of your choice. It’s the best way to test your skills and knowledge and figure out what it is you really want in life. For me, making the decision put an effort into my outfit—from detail to detail making sure my clothes are wrinkle-free—at six in the morning tells me a lot about how much I care about the opportunity in front of me. Summer is the best time to get dolled up and look dapper and nail your internship with style!

This Fashionisto definitely looked the part for his internship. His style is clean, perfectly layered and put together. His navy blue blazer is the focal point of his outfit; it’s one of those must-have staple pieces that dress everything up and look professional at the same time! It gives you complete versatility because you can layer a blazer on top of a T-shirt and jeans if you want to look casual or you can layer it with a button-down and chinos for a more formal-casual look like this Fashionisto did. It’s a timeless piece to have. I really liked the fact that he cuffed his pants and didn’t button up the collar of his shirt and kept it tieless. It added a bit of a summer flair to his look! He finished it off with navy blue slip-ons—not only are they comfortable, but they are also trendy and match his outfit perfectly. He looks like he’s ready to tackle any challenge at his internship while looking great and comfortable!

One Simple Change: Ready for happy hour with your peers to celebrate a long day of running errands, excel spreadsheets and coffee-runs? Take off your blazer, roll up your sleeves and unbutton two of the top buttons of your shirt and you’re ready for happy hour. The way you style and detail your top can make a big difference in your entire look and the occasion you’re headed to. So follow these simple steps and grab a drink.
