WHAT TO WEAR: Internship

With the weather warming up and campus clearing out, Fashionistas/os all over are trading in their backpacks for briefcases. They’re headed to spend their summers in the real world. That’s right—it’s internship season! As many college students know, there is an immense amount of pressure placed on landing that coveted summer internship. But once you nail the position, do you know how to dress the part?

I spotted this Fashionista as she was ready to jump on the train and go to her summer office. Since her office’s dress code is business casual, she knows how important it is to exude a professional appearance. She wants to stand out for her work ethic and not a fashion faux pas. However, this Fashionista knows she does not have to compromise style to be taken seriously. Her trendy floral pants look effortlessly cool. They complement her height and make her legs look miles long without revealing too much skin.

This Fashionista’s strappy shoes and statement necklace cement her look as a polished young professional. Having a simple cardigan on hand is always helpful with the iffy office air conditioning. Draping it over her shoulder is an easy way to keep it close without taking away from the real focus of the outfit. Her sunglasses are handy for the commute, or if she needs to leave the office at a moment’s notice. As an intern you want to show your superiors that you’re up for any task and this outfit does just that. Clearly, her outfit is both office and errand ready.

One Simple Change: Ditch the cardigan and sunglasses and swap out the basic blouse for a flirty sleeveless top. No need to go home and change; this simple trick will transition this look into a fun date night outfit when it’s time to hit happy hour.
