WHAT TO WEAR: Internship

One crucial part about being a college student is searching for the perfect internship. Along with trying to find the best one, figuring out your daily wardrobe can be a struggle. Before I entered college, I had no idea what “business casual” even meant. The idea of dressing professionally but also staying casual was a foreign language to me. After researching, I finally came to a conclusion: always stay true to your own individual style by adding a few key essentials to your wardrobe. This includes a nice blazer, a blouse and a comfortable pair of shoes. Learn to mix and match with these staple items while still staying true to yourself, because self-confidence is the best outfit. That is why I love this Fashionista’s ensemble, since she is incorporating a few basic staple pieces while showcasing her own style.

This Fashionista is wearing a white polka-dotted blouse that is just adorable. This shirt showcases her personal style while still keeping the dress code in mind. I love the ruffles on the shoulder and the detailing on the front. She decided to pair this shirt with dark wash skinny jeans, which is a great choice for staying comfy and making the outfit more casual. One aspect to keep in mind is that not all internships allow their employees to wear jeans since the company might want a more professional look. Just make sure to find out the dress code before you start your first day. Otherwise, jeans are a great staple to include in your wardrobe.

When it comes to choosing the right pair of shoes, go with something you are comfortable in. This is especially true during the first few weeks because you want to get a feel for how your co-workers dress. This Fashionista went with the bold statement heel, which is adorable and makes this outfit dressy. Adding a pop of color in your shoe is a fun way to spice up an outfit.

Lastly, I love her accessories, which include her kate spade purse, watch and Alex and Ani bangles. When landing an internship, having a medium sized purse is key because you want the ability to throw anything in that is needed to make you ready for the day. Also, I would recommend purchasing a neutral-colored purse since it will go with any outfit.

One Simple Change: Interested in wearing this outfit to get brunch with your friends, parents or grandparents? Just swap the pink high heels with a cute pair of black sandals and you are good to go.
