WHAT TO WEAR: Internship

So you have just scored your dream summer internship—congrats! This is such an exciting time to be pursuing your passion in a field that you may work in one day. However, you and I both know how important first impressions are, especially when you’re a Fashionista/o. The key to dressing for the office is looking polished, professional and put together. Hopefully there will be not any more hours wasted staring into your closet because dressing for success can be easy and affordable.

This Fashionista was on her way home from a long day at her cubicle. Her look is effortlessly chic and incredibly work appropriate. She kept everything neutral, beginning with a structured white top from Zara. Investing in staple pieces like a classic white V-neck is extremely versatile.

Shopping for dress pants can be a little boring, but not when there are some this cute! She found her fitted flair trousers at Gap. The other plus side is that this pair was super inexpensive. Her gold jewelry and watch dressed up her ensemble in the most simple way that is not distracting or over the top. Always bring some kind of jacket like a blazer or sweater to add to your work look. Her denim jacket dresses down the pants, which is perfect for a casual Friday at the office. Lastly, her shoes and bag tie her look together flawlessly. Neutral shoes with a low heel or some ballerina flats are best for the work environment.

One Simple Change: A few of your friends planned to meet for dinner at the last minute, but your look is strictly for the office. All you need to do is switch out your handbag and pants. Opt for a clutch or a satchel, and this will allow you to bring only the essentials and not have to lug around your work handbag throughout the night. To achieve the perfect girl’s night out look, swap out the trousers for a pair of your favorite distressed skinny jeans. They will pair perfectly with the heels you already have on!
