WHAT TO WEAR: Internship

It is that time of year again: internship season. Living right outside of Washington, DC and going to school in New York City, an internship is something that almost everyone does or plans to do during college. For many, it’s the first time they are working in an office setting and getting a taste for a potential career. It is crucial to present the best version of yourself while appearing professional, conservative and put together. The tricky part is, how do you do this without looking a little bit like your mom? Go ahead and ditch the pantsuits because this Fashionista shows us how to pull off a chic and professional look flawlessly.

A trend we saw this past spring in the shows of Wes Gordon, Victoria Beckham, Ralph Lauren and many more was white. Harper’s Bazaar is predicting it will be one of the biggest trends of the summer. This Fashionista utilizes this in her internship look through her sandals and skirt that make her look sharp and sleek. Her blush, satin blouse complements the pattern in her skirt effortlessly and her Van Cleef style necklace ties the look together.

She kept her makeup simple and her hair is pulled back in a neat bun which helps keep her looking conservative and appropriate. It is key to keep your hair and makeup simple in the office. The idea of less is more definitely applies and makes a bigger statement than you may think. Finding the balance of conservative and fashionable can be tricky these days, but this Fashionista shows how easy it can be.

One Simple Change: For a night out downtown after the internship, all this Fashionista would have to do is swap the skirt for a pair of embellished high-waisted shorts, and she is ready to go.
