WHAT TO WEAR: Internship

February 6th, 2015 at 2:05am

Interning can be a very awkward period in a college student’s life. Commuting, adjusting to the environment and even looking the part can be a struggle — but this college student really nailed his look. More often than not, I see college guys looking like they raided their father’s closet when it comes to dressing professionally. This week’s Fashionisto, however, looked perfectly polished and up-to-date.

In my opinion, one of the worst fashion faux pas is wearing ill-fitting clothing, especially when it comes to a suit. But this week’s Fashionisto looked very chic in his tailored navy suit, perfect for the office. For interns in a professional business environment, like this Fashionisto who was on his way to his internship at Merrill Lynch, dressing the part is the first step to succeeding at your job. The better you look, the more confident you’ll feel!

His camel coat and cognac-colored shoes finished off the look perfectly. To complement his navy suit, he wore a neutral light blue and beige checked tie, which really “tied” together the blue and brown shades of his outfit flawlessly. He also sported a Michael Kors watch on his wrist for a final touch.

One Simple Change: This intern’s look is very professional, which is perfect for the office, but might be a little too dressy for a normal day on campus. If you have a presentation coming up in one of your classes, try taking off the suit jacket for a more business casual feel. Wearing the dress pants and tie without the jacket will still seem professional and polished, while not looking too overdone for the classroom.
