I’m sad to say that the summer is almost over, which means my internship is also coming to an end. As the cliché says, “All good things must come to an end.” On the bright side, looking good never has to end, and the summer isn’t quite over yet. For all you hard workers out there still grindin’, you know exactly what I mean. An internship is much like an actual job; regardless if you’re getting paid or not, you still need to look professional, and it doesn’t hurt to add a little pizzazz.
Having an internship is like a bonus to your wardrobe. Of course everyone has their own style and everyday clothing, but having an internship allows you to add some more professional pieces of clothing. When I was younger, I always thought that people in suits and ties were so intimidating and somehow that made them so smart. Well, now’s your chance to look like you’re extremely smart and fashionable. Looking clean cut and professional can make anyone look good, and make you look like you know exactly what you’re doing even if you actually have no idea what you’re doing. I mean, just look at all those politicians—okay, just kidding.
In today’s sighting, this Fashionisto’s deep blue sandals especially caught my attention. It’s not very often that you see Birkenstocks paired with a slick outfit, but then again, I do live in Vermont. Everybody in Vermont has a more relaxed sense of style than most places, but I never realized that Birkenstocks would be a real fashion trend. Yet here I am, looking at a fashionable outfit.
What I love most about this outfit is this Fashionisto’s J.Crew chambray. It’s a classic shirt, but the darker blue collar and pocket give the shirt the perfect touch of detail. The shirt is perfect for a relaxed internship because it can stand alone without a tie or blazer. This Fashionisto chose to be monochromatic by choosing another shade of blue with his twill shorts.
Finally, the outfit is finished with some very suave Brooks Brothers sunglasses that will definitely make the ladies swoon. Just because you’re busy with an internship doesn’t mean you can’t make the ladies blush when you walk by.
One Simple Change: Meeting with a professor after your internship? Simply put on a tie, long khaki pants and some oxford shoes, and you will look quite studious.
