Summer is in full swing here at USC, and for many that means the start of summer internships. Figuring out the dress code for your internship is always a little bit difficult. Do people at your office dress up for work or stick with a more business causal vibe? You don’t want to overdress for your first day of work but you certainly don’t want to underdress either! My advice is to keep it classy for your first few days of work until you figure out what’s appropriate to wear on a day to day basis.
I think this Fashionista has a great look for the first day of an internship. She looks very professional without overdoing it. She pairs a classic navy pencil skirt with a loose white top. I love the flowing fabric of her H&M top, as I think it gives her a nice flair of sophistication. She accessorizes with cute nude flats and a classic cross-body bag. The Fashionista tops off this look with a flawless sock bun that is very appropriate for the office.
Dressing for the first day of anything is always a little bit stressful. I’ll never forget the anxiety I had trying to decide what to wear for my first day of high school. As far as the first day of your summer internship, however, I would vote to keep it classic and simple like this Fashionista does. Her look is chic and very professional while dressing in an age-appropriate manner.
One Simple Change: If you figure out that your internship allows you to dress casually, wear this same top with a pair of black skinny jeans. It’ll give you a sleek look perfect for a trendier office!
