WHAT TO WEAR: Holiday

What to Wear

Leave it to Alexander Wang and Emilio Pucci to really WOW the fashion world once again. While the lucky ones were sitting front row, I was curled up in bed watching the spring 2014 Fashion Week through digital means. Although the quality on my laptop cannot compare, I was still drooling over the RTW that continued to cascade down the runways.

Time and time again, Wang and Pucci have brought life and inspiration to trendsetters all over the world. This season of course is no different. While reviewing their looks online, it dawned on me what kind of statement they were looking to make. Many people view high-end designers predominantly clean-cut, but this time new looks are being revealed, as well as some skin.

The holiday season is now in full swing! This means there will be parties, dinners and family gatherings. In the past it was thought that a young girl must cover up while amongst relatives, but if we listen to some of the biggest designers in the world, they’re saying it’s “ok” to expose a shoulder or two. The Fashionista I spotted today has on the perfect outfit for any holiday occasion.

From head to toe this look is fabulous. Starting with her top, the cold shoulder blouse is a festive piece. With gems stitched around the neckline and shoulders, it adds a little glitz to the outfit, while the cutouts expose some skin. Since the holiday season is a time to get dressed up and look your best, she paired the top with a mini skirt adorned by a tiny ruffle. Adding a simple pair of black tights, this Fashionista transforms the look into an appropriate outfit, all the while keeping her legs nice and warm!

Gliding around in her platform booties, the closed toe and suede material are perfect for this time of year. In my personal opinion, a girl can never be wearing too much black. But, when it comes to accessories, you MUST add something that really makes your outfit “pop.” For example, it could be a deep red lipstick, a chunky necklace or in this case, a metallic snake skin clutch.

Not much jewelry is required for this look. The ring and her chunky watch are two simple pieces, but definitely add some fun bling! So while you prepare your outfits this holiday season, dress up, stand out and remember what Alexander Wang and Emilio Pucci shared with the world: it’s time to show some skin!

One Simple Change: By replacing the skirt and tights with a pair of skinny jeans, you can create a look that is perfect for any winter night out.
