Shopping for my holiday attire is one of my favorite parts of the season. 1. I get to go out and get a brand new outfit. 2. Everything is on sale and there are coupons galore. 3. Mom usually foots the bill. I’m not sure all Fashionistas can agree with my three points but I did find at least one. I spotted her rocking her holiday look for a Christmas dinner on campus before everyone packed their bags to head home for the semester.
She put together a great look for a holiday event like Christmas mass or dinner at Grandma’s. And, her dress is perfect for sporting to after holiday parties (Mom loves to hear that you can get double the use out of something she’s buying). She rocked a great black and white lace dress. If you’re looking for a similar style I suggest checking out Express. They have a ton of options in different color schemes. This Fashionista smartly threw a cardigan over her shoulders to stay warm wherever she went. I always find the problem of wanting to wear a strapless or tank top dress but never knowing how to make it winter appropriate. This Fashionista tackled that situation with a simple black cardigan.
Her accessories were kept simple. She opted for a black, peep-toe heel. You probably have a pair of go-to heels in your closet so you won’t have to worry about searching for something to match. If heels aren’t your thing go with a pair of flats for comfort. Maybe choose a pair with a little sparkle or glam to make them pop. Lastly, she chose to wear simple silver jewelry, like a circle necklace and stud earrings. The necklace fell perfectly above the dress and wasn’t a distraction to the rest of the ensemble.
One Simple Change: To take this outfit from a family gathering to a night out swap the cardigan for a leather jacket, like this one from Nordstrom. Then, switch the open-toe heels for a pair of heeled booties. With these changes you’ll be set for a night out over your holiday break.
