It may be October, but it definitely doesn’t feel like fall here at MSU. Mother Nature has been throwing us all a curveball and dishing out some unseasonably warm weather. Normally I wouldn’t be complaining, but I’m ready for sweater and boots weather. But, sweaters and boots aren’t exactly appropriate when it is 80-degrees outside. Michigan weather is known for being a little unpredictable — today it’s crazy warm and tomorrow it could be snowing. You just never know, so it definitely makes getting dressed difficult. But, when I spotted this Fashionista walking out of her lecture, I knew she got it right.
Neon shorts are an essential piece in any Fashionista’s wardrobe. They are versatile and can be worn with anything, but sometimes they can overtake an outfit. The key to rocking neon is having additional items to counteract the boldness. This Fashionista toned down her brightly colored bottoms with a great neutral sweater. Pairing a bold item with something more understated gives an outfit depth and makes it more wearable. For the finishing touch, she added a bright pink bubble necklace and a neutral tote bag.
The key to emulating this look is pairing bright and bold with toned down and neutral. To make the look cohesive, it’s important to not overdo it with too many bright colors. Having staple pieces to bring the whole look together is key. Also, statement accessories add a fun twist and dress up your outfit for any occasion. With warm weather still coming our way, don’t be afraid to bust out the shorts…again! Embrace the warm weather while it lasts!
One Simple Change: This Fashionista’s neon shorts are perfect for a fall heat wave, but as colder weather approaches, swap the shorts for dark wash denim for a great look for a day spent out with friends!
