Summer is coming to an end but that doesn’t mean it’s cooling down anytime soon in Pennsylvania. The heat is in full force which means limited outfit choices for stylish Fashionistas. But, the warm weather is something to expect at this time of year so we need to pick pieces appropriately.
I spotted this health science major on campus after a day of clinical work trying to stay cool. She immediately wanted to get out of those baggy, hot scrubs and into something a little more summer friendly. She swooped her hair off of her neck into a sleek sock bun. I’m a huge fan of this look because it is put together and more ladylike than a boring ponytail.
She kept her outfit simple, a key for these types of temperatures, with a mint green tank that featured a lace back. Her tank is comparable to the AE Mesh Inset Cami from American Eagle Outfitters. It’s a great piece that can easily work with a cardigan or button-down for those cooler occasions. Or, in these hot temperatures it allows her to tan her fit shoulders. Her black shorts are a summer must, like these BDG High-Rise Cheeky Shorts from Urban Outfitters. She kept her accessories minimal, with only a few silver rings, and finished off her look with a pair of strappy sandals. For a similar look, I suggest these Merona Emily Braided Strap Gladiators from Target. They are a great wardrobe essential that could be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
Remember to keep sunscreen handy at all times in this kind of weather. It’s always great to get a tan but make sure to protect your skin first, especially in an outfit like this.
One Simple Change: To make this outfit appropriate for a cooler afternoon throw a chambray top over the mint tank. The Denim Boyshirt from Madewell in saltstone wash would be a great choice. Keep the shirt open for a casual look or button it up and tuck it in for a more put together feel. This would be great for a brunch date or running errands.
