The birds are chirping, the sun is shining and sundresses are everywhere you look. There was a long, long period of time when I thought I would never hear birds again or be able to utilize the abundant amount of sundresses I have in my closet. But alas, after this extremely cold Wisconsin winter, a heat wave is upon us Madison students. After being cooped up inside for weeks on end, students are spending their precious hours at the Memorial Union terrace or strolling down the Lakeshore Path toward Picnic Point. Everyone is dressed to impress. Style that was hidden all winter seems to be seeping out of every corner.
This Fashionista takes simple pieces and creates a unique, fun, warm-weather look. We have seen a variety of denim jackets and vests this season, but rarely have we seen denim skirts (we aren’t talking your 1990s Abercrombie & Fitch jean skirt) as perfectly worn like this Fashionista’s American Apparel denim circle skirt. She keeps it simple by matching it with a basic black cotton tank top. For a bolder look try a bold bralette.
Instead of placing her floral flannel down, she adds style to her outfit by tying it around her waist. This is my favorite part of her outfit because it makes her style so unique. A simple addition, like tying your flannel or having socks peak from your shoes, makes your outfit not only more stylish but also more you.
This Fashionista looks cute and ready for summer. Both the perfectly messy braid she so easily made with her vibrant red hair and the playful bright pink lipstick splattered on her beautiful smile exude an attitude of coolness. We have been cooped up for too long. It is time to flaunt our warm weather style.
One Simple Change: Trade the flannel for a leather jacket and the shoes with a pair of booties, and you’ll be ready for summer night concerts!
