What to Wear

Summer means different things to different people. For some, it means spending hours at the beach, savoring the sun’s rays while hanging out with friends. For those of us not so lucky, it means taking classes that we wish we could have gotten out of until the fall or spring.  However, for most of us, it is a time to relax and enjoy the time we have before the chaos of the real school year kicks off. Picnics are the perfect way to enjoy what the season has to offer with a few close friends (or that special someone).

I spotted this Fashionista in the perfect picnic attire.  Crop tops and high-waisted shorts may be quintessential summer attire, but her patterned watermelon shorts add a playful flare. High-waisted shorts are flattering on practically every body type by accentuating the slimmest part of the body while still showing off your curves. Comfort is also important in the summer heat and her basic gray crop top and jelly flats reflect that. By opting for jelly flats instead of the usual sandals or flip flops, she adds a unique spin to her outfit and won’t have to worry about walking around the parks in both comfort and style.

This season, try to expand on what your definition of summer fashion is by picking pieces with colors, patterns and textures that may not be within your usual comfort zone. Whether you prefer shorts and T-shirts or flowy dresses, be sure to add something special in order to stand out from the crowd in this summer heat.

One Simple Change: Change the crop top to a loose fitting shirt made of light material and the jelly sandals to gladiators for a nice look for a summer brunch!
