It’s the beginning of the year and all around campus people are desperately trying to convince you to join their clubs. If you went to Discover Fest last week you’ll know this feeling of overwhelming options for your social calendar. Along with options for socializing in clubs that cater to your hobbies, another option becomes available: Greek Life. Stigmas aside, rushing for either a sorority or fraternity is definitely a great way to meet new people and experience new things.
When the time comes, you’re probably going to be thinking of what to wear, which is why I have developed a full proof plan for you to comfortably and fashionably dress to impress. Before I talk about this week’s Fashionista, I want to give you a few tips on outfit selection for recruitment weekend.
First of all, you know that it’s probably going to be very hot out in late September (yay So Cal) so you’ll want to keep your outfit to light fabrics that are very breathable. Trust me when I say that no amount of style will matter when you’re sweating so hard you look as though you’ve actually bathed while fully clothed. Secondly, wear something that you feel comfortable in. This might not be the time to try out crop tops and high tops if you’re self conscious, stay true to your personal style.
Now, this week’s Fashionista embodies what we have come to know as “casual cute.” Her outfit is a great for you to consider when picking out what to wear to all your rush events. She is trendy yet comfortable in her electric blue top that is sheer enough without looking too risqué. Her flared skirt is very similar to the classic American Apparel one we have loved for quite some time now, and the brown belt ties in her very trendy wedges from Target. This outfit is perfect for maybe day two of recruitment when you visit all the lovely ladies of Greek life at their sorority houses. You’ll want to be a little more fancy than the first day and a little bit less than the third.
One Simple Change: Switching out the wedges for some gladiator sandals makes her outfit a tad more casual and comfortable so that you can wear it to class. Good walking ability is especially important if you’re planning on walking to school or a lot around campus.
