WHAT TO WEAR: Graduation

It is the time of the year where Fashionistas/os get to trade in their classic berets and headbands for mortarboards and academic gowns. Graduation is a time to celebrate all the academic triumphs one achieved during the pursuit of an education. Since the tasks in order to get your diploma are filled with long nights of exam prepping and essay drafting, graduation is the universal sign of relief and happiness that comes from family, professors and most importantly the graduates. From the perspective of the people watching their family members or friends graduate, there is built up excitement during the ceremony that can only be released by hugging the graduate and congratulating them.

I recently attended my best friend’s graduation, and as I finished pouring my excitement and joy of her accomplishments, I spotted this Fashionista doing the same to her sister. However, she sported an amazing two-piece ensemble that exuded simplicity and elegance. She decided to go for an all white outfit in order to keep the attention on her sister and her special day. Her lace crop brought an air of delicate details and refinement, and her structured skirt gave balanced the top out. My favorite part of the outfit were the shoes, especially the straight and geometry quality of them. The neutral colors compliment the purity of the outfit. In addition, she paired her whole outfit with small and dainty jewelry like the pearl bracelet and the gold necklace. This whole look is appropriate for a daytime occasion such as a graduation due to its semi-formal nature and color choice.

One Simple Change: To make this look turn a more casual direction, like brunch, change the lace crop top for T-shirt. The feminine aspect of the skater skirt will balance out the casual feel of the T-shirt. Also, change the shoes to some cute flats or sandals.
