WHAT TO WEAR: Graduation

What to Wear

I still remember my high school graduation—that is, I remember that the only thing I could think as I was walking on stage was, “Do not trip in these heels.” Graduation is certainly an eventful and amazing day, so it comes as no surprise that Fashionistas and Fashionistos make an effort to find the perfect graduation outfit.

This Fashionista rocked an all-white graduation look, looking beautiful and elegant on her special day. She wore an alice + olivia white draped baby doll dress. The stark white was perfect, as the neutral color did not clash under her colored graduation robes. The back of her dress likewise had a small cutout above her hips, which was draped with sheer, white fabric. While the small cutout was a bit seductive for graduation, the sheer, white overlay added a touch of elegance that was perfect for the occasion.

To accessorize, this Fashionista wore a gold, electroplated blue flash labradorite slice necklace from her website, A-Life-Story.com. The piece was versatile enough to wear on multiple occasions, and the gold looked beautiful against the white of her dress.

Of course, no one wants to be the girl that trips at graduation, so a pair of chunky heels was also a smart option.  The stacked, thick heels and the platform at the base of the shoe were perfect for walking, and the nude elongated her legs, again, without clashing with her robes.

One Simple Change:  Opt for something slightly more conservative if you’re going to meet your boyfriend or partner’s parents. Try wrapping a shawl around your shoulders and swapping the chunky heels for a pair of nude, leather sandals, like these from Pour La Victoire.
