High school graduation is one of the first bittersweet moments in a young person’s life where one has to look back on all that is safe and familiar and what lies ahead that is distant and unknown. It is a moment where you say goodbye to your past and step ever so anxiously into your future.
I spotted this Fashionista on stage strutting towards her diploma as if she ruled the auditorium. She was ready to kiss everyone and everything she had ever known goodbye and start a new adventure and a new life in college. After taking a few pictures (hundreds) with her family and friends, she finally took off the navy graduation robe and cap.
Underneath the polyester fabric, I found the most perfect outfit for graduation that I had to go up to her and snap a picture. She was wearing a black and white Parker dress that fit her so perfectly. Being a tall girl, she wanted to wear a dress that looked cute and that was appropriate, meaning that it wasn’t too short or too tight. (Fashionistas never ever want to look like they are going to hit the club after receiving their diplomas.) She paired this perfect dress with Vince Camuto shoes. They matched the dress amazingly and they also did not give her too much height. She added some classic gold accessories like her Michele watch, Hermès bracelet and Judith Ripka ring.
As Michael Dell addressed the class of 2003 at the University of Texas he said, “Try never to be the smartest person in the room…” and while this might be true in regards to making connections and forming networks, here is my advice, “Try to ALWAYS be the best dressed in the room and ALWAYS keep your style on.”
Congratulations to the best dressed class of 2013!
One Simple Change: Switch the heels for some black Tory Burch flats and add a sharp blazer and this outfit is ready for an internship.
