As much as we hate to admit it, it definitely sucks working or taking classes over the summer. The sun shining down on the concrete pavement and the birds happily chirping away are luxuries that we all vie for as we sit enclosed in our cinderblock workspaces and chilly classrooms. But the best thing about summer is that once the workday ends, the fun has just begun. It’s still warm outside and people are out and about, making us forget the agony that was the eight hours we just spent indoors. One of my favorite ways to unwind after a long and grueling work or school day is going out with my closest girl friends. The best thing about a girl’s night out is that it is just that — a girl’s night out. You can channel out the creepy guy who hits at you at the bar, or the pressure to impress the cutie who’s standing at an uncomfortably close distance and just focus on having a great night with your girl friends. Dressing for the occasion is probably the easiest task of all, because you get to wear what YOU want to wear and you can take as many risks as you’re happy with, because hey, who’s judging?
This week’s Fashionista was spot on with her girl’s night out outfit. Her ensemble was playful and girly with an abstract and risky flavor, which is the best way to go for a night on the town with your girl friends. Her black and turquoise skater dress stole the show that night. Though the cut and detailing were rather simple, the bright turquoise skirt was just what this Fashionista needed to brighten up her night. The length of the dress was also perfect (not too short and revealing and not too long and conservative), which is great for a fun night out with your friends.
My favorite part of this Fashionista’s outfit, however, were the risks she took with her accessories. To play up her minimalistic dress, she vamped up her look with a funky geometric statement necklace and the classic gold Michael Kors Runway watch. My favorite way to be bold without being too bold is with an awesome statement necklace. The interesting shapes and gold detailing on this necklace made a precisely measured statement that complemented the outfit without overpowering it. The watch she chose was a great accessory for a night on the town as well, because of its turquoise head, which is not something you see every day.
Last, but definitely not least, this Fashionista’s black Michael Kors canvas wedges were a great way to keep up the playful vibe flowing through this outfit without sacrificing comfort. Perfect for a night of dancing and whatever else you might cook up for your crazy night!
