WHAT TO WEAR: Formal

June 19th, 2015 at 2:00am

Prom season is at its peak in New York City right now. After meeting people from different cities and states, I’ve noticed that NYC celebrates prom in a very different way. We get proms at every senior stage throughout our school years, from the fifth grade up until our senior year of high school. However, senior prom is the prom of all proms. Senior prom in New York City is basically Grammy Night without the celebrities now. It went from limo rides in Macy’s finest dresses to custom couture dresses and suits stepping into the latest, foreign sportscars. The trends in outfits change each year based on who was best dressed at the most fashionable galas and award shows in the previous year. High slits, cutouts, glitter, dramatic train bottoms and tulle finished off by designer shoes have been spotted all over the country this past month. But in NYC alone, Instagram has shown us some of the most bizarre, over-the-top, beautiful dresses and cars that shine throughout the five boroughs on this one, special night.

In a dress beautifully sewn for this Fashionista by her mother, she will be one of the best dressed people in attendance. The cutouts on her dress are tasteful and give the piece some edge that perfectly matches her edgy, snakeskin, peep-toe Giuseppe Zanotti pumps. Her hair, makeup, clutch and accessories bring out the elegance of her dress. With just enough of everything, she has accomplished a sweet, complete look. This Fashionista is bound to be turning heads all evening.

One Simple Change: Prom festivities usually aren’t over until the next morning. Everyone gets ready for post-prom celebrations thrown throughout the city. To continue turning heads until then, switch out the long black gown for a LBD or midi.
