WHAT TO WEAR: Formal

April 10th, 2015 at 2:00am

Formal season is amongst us at Sacred Heart University. It’s one of the most exciting times for fraternities and sororities alike. It’s the perfect excuse to get that fancy dress you have been eying in store windows, and you can get your friends friends to pamper you by doing your hair and make up. The best parts of any formal are the pictures that come out of it. Luckily, this Fashionista was ready for her close up.

When picking out a formal dress, it is imperative to find one that emphasizes your best features. For this Fashionista, she chose a black off the shoulder style with a sweetheart neckline. The dress also flared out, showing off her small waist. This LBD can definitely be used for more than one occasion. Nowadays, since we’re all broke college students, I look for dresses with potential for multiple wears. Spending over 100 dollars on a dress you wear one time is not in my budget anymore. If paired with different accessories, you can go from Marilyn Monroe to Audrey Hepburn. This Fashionista chose to go with a Grecian look and pulled it off effortlessly. Her turquoise and gold accents were perfect for this look. Her hair was pulled back in a braid, which twisted into a bun. This pushed back look allowed all the attention to be focused on her accessories and dress. The best part of this ensemble is her heels. The bright color and funky strap were the highlight of the look. Adding these bright accessories livened up her look and made her a standout at formal.

One Simple Change: So you want to wear this dress again, but this time for brunch with the gals over the weekend. By throwing on a simple denim jacket or cardigan and flats, this outfit goes from dressy to casual.
