I’m not sure how it happened, but fall has crept up on us once again. Yes, it’s still August, but before you know it, classes will be in full swing along with all the parties, events and general pandemonium that goes along with all of it. Whether it be a banquet or a sorority event, it’s never a bad idea to start lining up the formal attire for the school year.
While I know it’s basically law for every woman to have their staple little black dress, I’m usually a stronger proponent of people taking bolder chances with their style. When else will we be able to rock things like overalls other than in our vivacious youth? Yet, I must give credit where it’s due, and it is certainly due to this Fashionista. The cutout around her waist breathes new life to the stale mass of LBDs and the A-line cut adds some fun movement.
To liven up the look even more, she added bow patterned black tights. Tights are far too often associated with old ladies and dance classes, and should be viewed as an outfit altering accessory for any dress or skirt. Plus, it’s 2013, and these are not grandma’s nylons. Whether it be bows or one of the hundreds of other patterns, tights can easily add personality to any ensemble without giving you traumatic flashbacks of the ballet bar.
This Fashionista tops off her look with a thick gold chain and Baroque style sunglasses. There is no greater accessory than anything that pays even the slightest homage to old school hip-hop. And worn to a formal? Now that’s how you wear an LBD.
One Simple Change: For some relaxed weekend wear, she could switch her dress for a patterned romper. Wearing a onesie is even more exciting as a teen.
