WHAT TO WEAR: Festival

What to Wear

This weekend is the second weekend of Coachella and festival season won’t stop there. It’s important to have your festival gear ready whether you are going to a popular event or even a local one like the one Whittier College hosted last week called K-CHELLA. Festival attire is also perfect for just dressing up in hot weather. I spotted this Fashionista at K-CHELLA rocking a great outfit that you can recreate with some pieces you may already have in your closet.

I would say the basic uniform for a festival is a pair of high-waisted shorts and a crop top. I like how this Fashionista did a simple DIY and created her own crop top using one of the shirts from the event. If you don’t want to cut up a T-shirt then I recommend this one from NASTY GAL because it still gives off that DIY feel. Next I like how she wore high-waisted shorts in a light wash that have a bit of fringe at the bottom. Fringe will be really popular at festivals this season and there is no better way to incorporate it through your denim. I also prefer to wear tennis shoes like this Fashionista instead of sandals just in case you are standing in dirt and it tennis shoes provide better support.

Another important element is accessories. Since festivals are outdoors, sunglasses are a total must. Perhaps my favorite part are the hair accessories that are worn such as a headbands and floral crowns. I like how this Fashionista wore a combination of the two with a headband that had a delicate flower on the side. And of course, the most important accessory of all is your festival entry wristband.

One Simple Change: Go from festival wear to heat wave wear by simply switching the tennis shoes for a pair of sandals to be cool all around.
