WHAT TO WEAR: Fall

June 8th, 2015 at 2:10am

One of my favorite things about fall is that it is without a doubt the most colorful and vibrant season of all. This Fashionista definitely took advantage of this when putting together her outfit. The brown hues shown here effortlessly blend with the natural and dynamic environment. The mix of simple light and dark tones, as well as the pop of gold with the sunglasses, definitely made this a perfect fall outfit.

I adore the element of neutral color-blocking here, with the backpack being a great example of this trend. It can work with a multitude of different outfits as well as seasons, and is definitely a strong closet staple. Neutrals are also a particularly great way to ease yourself into color blocking if you’re not a big fan of bright and bold outfits.

Brown corduroy jackets, or really any corduroy pieces, are so hard to come by these days—especially if you’re shopping in the women’s department. This Fashionista remembers picking hers up at a thrift store, giving this casual outfit a unique and almost vintage edge. Until that perfect corduroy piece comes your way, this chestnut-colored jacket will help you achieve a similar look.

When picking out a simple pair of black shorts, a great way to add a bit of character is to find a pair with a unique hem, like these comfortable shorts with a scallop edge. These hems add extra detail to an outfit while still keeping the item quite versatile.

One Simple Change: Turning this outfit into a perfect look for brunch can be easily achieved by switching up the accessories. Swap the backpack for a small clutch purse, and lose the canvas lace-up shoes in favor of a pair of black heeled boots. Depending on if your brunch location is inside or outside, you can also lose the sunglasses and add a simple gold necklace to finish off the look.
