What to Wear

During the first few weeks of classes, there will be plenty of errand-running, from finalizing classes with the registrar to picking up boxes from the auxillary services and dropping off paperwork. We want to be able to enjoy the beautiful weather while being realistic. We have so many hills in the valley that even wedges and pointed flats sometimes won’t cut it. Comfort is key, but we can work our style around comfortable pieces.

I ran into this week’s Fashionista styled a cohesive look that seemed effortless. Nothing says comfy-chic more than her silky jumpsuit. Minimalists would agree that the jumpsuit is enough to stand alone, so even if the temperature starts rising and she feels the need to take off a layer, she’ll still look great. Other jumpsuits up for grabs are the Topshop silk wrap cami jumpsuit, which shows the beauty of simplicity, and the more daring mechanic jumpsuit by Free People.

Her flip flops make the look casual and errand-running appropriate. She contrasts this with a Free People printed jacket that adds more structure to her outfit and pulls her look together. To assist the structure that the jacket adds, she cuffed her jumpsuit hem to blend these casual and structured pieces. But what is my favorite accessory of hers? It has to be her adorable dog.

One Simple Change: Trade the flip flops with either basic cut-out booties or printed booties for weekend wear that transitions into fall!
