During our college years, summer days are filled with many different things. The ideal days are spent doing all the things we can’t do during the school year such as sleeping in, laying poolside and partying all night. The not so ideal days are spent being a little more productive doing things like working and running errands. I came across a Fashionista who, although had a less than ideal day of running errands ahead of her, wore the perfect outfit to do so.
This Fashionista wore a burgundy blouse and a pair of denim high-waisted shorts. This type of shorts continue to be one of the most popular trending pieces each year, so I’m sure we’ll see a lot of this combination this summer. Layered over top of her blouse, she wore a tribal print kimono that was a great complement to her solid colored ensemble. For shoes, she rocked a pair of brown booties—a wardrobe essential for all college Fashionistas. Her outfit was perfect for a day of errands because it consists of everyday pieces that you can just throw on while still looking presentable.
Above all, this Fashionista’s accessorizing technique is what really showed off her personal style. Following the grunge trend, she paired a few chunky rings with a thick gold necklace. These are my favorite types of jewelry because you can easily wear them to enhance just about any casual outfit. Her head scarf is really the highlight of her look. Not too many Fashionistas can pull this look off (I know I can’t), but she did it perfectly! Her scarf added a mixture of prints to her outfit and really made her stand out from everyone else. In case you haven’t noticed, African fashion is becoming more and more popular with head scarves and turbans being included in many African-inspired collections. It is a great accessory to use to add some variety to your outfit and, most importantly, it is a key accessory for bad hair days!
One Simple Change: For an outfit that would be great for a festival, switch the burgundy blouse with a crochet bralette. Super boho chic.
