WHAT TO WEAR: Errands

What to Wear

As college students, it is said we have to choose two: sleep, school and a social life. In ways this statement is true, and realistically there just are not enough hours in the day to get the recommended eight hours of sleep, play intramural sports and study for an early morning midterm. However, people tend to forget the fourth “s” in the college life: Saturday.

Saturday is what keeps all college students sane. Little do parents know, Saturdays are actually highly productive for students. It is the one day we can catch up on sleep, get ahead on homework, go out with friends and complete all of the errands we postponed during the week. With so much to do and so much to think about, I am here to guide you through the perfect combination to maximize style and comfort for your productive day.

The foundation to this Fashionista’s look is the tan corduroy pants. Corduroys are the new jeans. They come in a multitude of colors and add texture to every outfit. This season, I like to personally wear either tan or blue skinny corduroys. I love how this Fashionista cuffs the bottom of her corduroys, turning them into an ankle pant.

Tan corduroys can be worn with many different kinds of tops and jackets. This Fashionista found the perfect combination to start her day by pairing it with a navy colored flannel shirt. The plaid gives more texture and character to the overall outfit. It is a simple choice but adds so much compared to a white T-shirt. Lately, I have been gravitating to a flannel top at Madewell called a mini-plaid popover. It is slightly dressier than a button-up flannel and is easier to throw on when in a hurry. This comfortable look is completed by the slip-on TOMS shoes. When doing errands, there is nothing worse than being uncomfortable or even worse, having your feet hurt at the end of the day. TOMS shoes are light, comfortable and can easily get you through the day.

For this Fashionista, her necklace serves as both an accessory and statement piece. She wears a short sideways cross necklace to add just a little extra something to her neckline. For all you non-southern Californians, I would not hesitate to recommend pairing a gray infinity scarf to the outfit on a cold day for extra warmth.

This outfit is the perfect Saturday attire as it is simple, comfortable and, most importantly, easy to put together. With doing laundry, grocery shopping and any other errands, this look will get you through any Saturday successfully.

One Simple Change: After the errands are completed, all this Fashionista needs is replace her TOMS shoes from the classic slip-on style to the desert booties to change the outfit from day-to-night wear. By adding a black leather jacket, this Fashionista is ready for a Saturday night concert with friends.
