One of the worst things about the first month of school is getting adjusted to those dreaded 8 a.m.’s. If you are one of the lucky few that didn’t get strapped with an early morning class, you can disregard this post. However, for the vast majority, this post is for you!
Frankly, the toughest thing for me to do is wake up early in the morning, pick out an outfit, put on my make-up and style my hair. A process that seems so routine at a later hour seems exponentially more difficult when you aren’t able to catch a few more sacred minutes of sleep.
Through trial and error (and countless school days filled with regret from pushing that “Snooze” button one too many times) I have found that it is always best to shower and style your hair the night before. It saves you at least a half hour of extra dozing time, and prevents you from running the risk of having that unsightly wet bun for the rest of the day! It also helps to set out your outfit the night before. When the brain is tired it doesn’t function as well as it should, and no one wants to realize they are wearing two different shoes only after the caffeine of that first Starbucks has hit.
This Fashionista told me that she picked her outfit the night before. She is wearing a cozy cropped oversized sweater; this helps to keep her feeling warm and snuggly throughout the day, while still staying on trend. If you are digging her printed sweater, here is one from Urban Outfitters that looks just as comfy, but if you want more of a basic knit pullover sweater there is this charming option from Free People.
She pairs this ideal sweater with a chic pair of leather shorts that equip this outfit with a hipster flare. Leather shorts are usually pretty pricey, if you can afford them here are an awesome pair from Saks Fifth, if not these faux leather shorts from Aqua will fool everyone into thinking that you have the real thing! The leather shorts go hand in hand with her leather boots, if you grab this cute pair of booties from asos they will tie in perfectly with your black leather shorts.
In order to make this outfit “day appropriate” this Fashionista puts on a pair of black sheer tights, which allow just enough of the leg to be seen while still remaining class appropriate.
The crowning factor, and my personal favorite part of this outfit, is the Fashionista’s hot pink tote. It adds a girly touch to this otherwise edgy outfit. Pink is a vibrant color that exudes tons of energy, which is what everyone needs to see for an early morning pick me up. If you love this bag as much as I do, here are three pink tote bags from Nordstrom that are as good, if not better: Ted Baker, kate spade and Marc Jacobs.
One Simple Change: Switch the knit sweater for an edgy femme top like this one to change the whole vibe of the look! This will have you all ready for a casual date night after you finish a long day of classes.
