The beginning of my junior year at Westminster has not disappointed me yet, while looking out for Fashionista/os for my column, I was pleasantly surprised to have a wide range of fashionable people to photograph. I can sympathize with the college population and how tough early classes can be, but that is no reason to lag on putting your most fashionable foot forward. I know I have mentioned several times the greatness of maxi dresses and their chic effortlessness, and this week’s Fashionista exemplifies this perfectly.
This fabulous Fashionista is sporting my ultimate go-to: the maxi dress. The maxi dress is so versatile, it is easy to wear and gives the illusion that you put a great deal of effort into looking presentable when actually you just throw it on before class. This Fashionista added some flavor to her olive maxi dress by adding a colorful patterned scarf. Her distressed, brown leather backpack makes holding books not only functional but fashionable.
Imitate this look with any maxi dress, there are many options whether you’re looking for something in a pattern or a solid color. For an edgier look swap out the scarf for a jean vest. I really love the look of a scarf and a jean vest together if you really want to accessorize your dress, just keep jewelry to a minimum. One thing is for sure, you’ll be the center of attention no matter how you style your maxi dress.
One Simple Change: Have a night on the town planned after class but don’t have time to change? Swap out your flat sandals for sky-high heels that will lengthen your legs and add some glamour to your otherwise casual outfit.
