There is a plethora of things college students complain about: cumulative finals, papers requiring a minimum of ten pages and the constantly depleting status of their wallets regardless of how often they seem to get it refilled. No one said New York City was going to be cheap. But, perhaps the complaint I hear most often, possibly even daily, is that of the miserable early morning class. When you go to bed circa 3 a.m. on a Tuesday night, chances are you won’t enjoy waking up at 8 a.m. for your macroeconomics lecture. While it’s tempting to throw on whatever is hanging limply off your desk chair, I know I always feel sloppy later on in the day when I am alert enough and see my fellow classmates dressed in something normal.
The best part about Andrew’s outfit was the ease with which he put it together. A simple gray T-shirt and a solid flannel shirt from J.Crew can go a long way. Pair it with your best everyday jeans — his are from UNIQLO — and the quintessential Converse for an effortless, but pulled together look.
Try a dip dyed Free People button-down shirt in a vibrant magenta color for a slouchy but comfortable look with a simple white tee shirt underneath. These J Brand light wash jeans are the perfect fit and shade for a great everyday go-to. While I tend to gravitate towards ballerina flats and ultra sleek boots, I’ve become a recent fan of the classic Converse and especially love the crisp white look of them. Lastly, you are going to class so a backpack is necessary to schlep all your stuff.
One Simple Change: If you are giving a presentation in that dreaded early morning class and want to look a bit more appropriate, lose the T-shirt and button the shirt up all the way for a little less casual appeal.
