I know all too well, as I’m sure many university students do, how hard it is to ignore my alarm’s snooze button and to get up early in the morning. It’s a constant battle between my will power and cozy blankets, and I’m not proud to say that more times than not, the blankets have won.
This typically means that when I finally do emerge to face the day, I’ve left myself barely enough time to get ready. I still, somehow, manage to put together a nice ensemble to wear. Although I stumble into my early morning class with a coffee in hand and half asleep, I admire those students who show up to their first class in an impeccably put-together outfit, just like this Fashionista’s look.
If I do not get my daily morning coffee, the chances of me fashionably showing up to a I-have-to-unfortunately-skip-breakfast-just-so-I-can-make-it-in-time class, like this Fashionista, is very slim! I adored her chambray shirt, buttoned up to the neck and tucked into a pair of cuffed light-wash boyfriend jeans. If you stress in the morning, then think throwing clothes on the floor and yelling at your wardrobe, “I have nothing to wear!” However, in reality, go for a classic outfit combination, like a collared shirt tucked into a pair of jeans–a fool proof way to look stylish with minimal effort and time.
A chunky cardigan was perfect for keeping this Fashionista warm on a cold morning, and as a layering piece, it was easily removed and slung around her shoulders or waist when it got warmer later in the day. I loved how she jazzed up her outfit with bold accessories, such as her neon necklace, since all of her clothing pieces were light colours. Statement necklaces with collared shirts are a match made in heaven, and neon is a hot trend right now in the fashion industry. Thus, add a florescent flair to your outfit for an instant pick-me-up. Another match made in heaven is a combination of brown and denim, which this Fashionista incorporated into her look with an adorable pair of ankle-grazing boots and a skinny belt.
Her oversized sunglasses were a rad addition to her outfit. Sunglasses are a great way to stylishly hide your puffy eyes, whether they are from a few drinks the night before or are study session-induced.
The next time I lay my clothes out for school, allow myself to hit the snooze button, I am going to have some serious fashion-envy over this gorgeous Fashionista. I wonder: does she roll out of bed looking that fabulous?
One Simple Change: If you have an important meeting later on in your day, wear a tailored blazer in black, or even neon pink, to add definite professionalism and flair to this look.
