WHAT TO WEAR: Early Class

From the Editor, What to Wear

Winter break is quickly coming to an end. While going back to campus has its fair share of perks, there are some things we will miss about being home for the holidays: Netflix marathons will be replaced with late night study sessions; Ramen Noodles will have to be a substitute for your mom’s homecooked dinner. But perhaps the most dreaded thing about heading back to campus—early class.

Those 8 a.m. lectures are easy to loathe and impossible to avoid. As you drag yourself to the chemistry lab before sunrise, don’t look like you got dressed in the dark. Follow in this Fashionista’s footsteps by rocking a layered look that is no-brainer.

Let’s start from the bottom and work our way up. This Fashionista’s relaxed pant is a great alternative to leggings or (dare I say) sweatpants. The loose fit is comfortable and is a great transition from pajama pants into acceptable streetwear. The tapered bottom makes the pants look chic and put together in a bohemian way.

She then opted for an oversized chambray shirt. Chambray shirts have been a must-have for Fashionistas and Fashionistos for some time. They are quickly becoming a classic garment and are definitely a staple every college student should own. The button-down of the shirt looks pulled together with minimal effort. Plus, the oversized fit makes it a perfect pick for layering.

My favorite part, however, of this Fashionista’s look is her cropped leather jacket. Leather jackets are one of those pieces that can take you literally anywhere. From an early class to an internship to a date night—leather jackets transcend occasions and are always a smart choice. This Fashionista’s shorter jacket is a great contrast to the longer chambray shirt. It hits at her waist, showing off her figure and making the look appear more polished.

To finish off the look, throw your hair in a messy bun and wrap yourself in an oversized scarf. With a look like this Fashionista’s, you are sure to make that early morning class a little brighter.

One Simple Change: Swap out the boots for a patterned heel to grab brunch with your friends come the weekend.
