WHAT TO WEAR: Denim Days

Winter is here to stay on this city campus of Virginia Commonwealth University, and so is the vintage denim vibes we’ve been seeing for the past couple of months. I was super inspired by this Fashionista’s laid-back style, especially layering that grungy boyfriend denim jacket for the chilly winter days we’ve seen a lot more of lately.

Her oversized thrifted denim jacket was such a statement piece to her assemble and a Richmond, VA staple. I love that she found this gem from one of RVA’s many thrift and small business clothing stores. She paired the jacket with a graphic T-shirt from an up-and-coming indie brand, Coffee Snacks and Cigarettes. Between the vintage denim jacket and the graphic T-shirt, this Fashionista nailed the classic RVA “cool-girl” look.

She kept it effortless and put together by pairing the two oversize pieces with midnight black skinny jeans. Her black, white, and denim neutrals have become essentials in my go-to look. Denim is one of my favorite “neutral” colors because it really can be paired with anything—even itself!

Lastly, to finish the look, she added a pair of distressed lace-up over-the-knee boots. This killer accessory puts a major edgy twist on the basic T-shirt and jeans look, making her outfit anything but ordinary. Not to mention, the over-the-knee boot has been major this season—from leather, to lace-up, to the sock boot. This overall look is perfect for just about anything within the city, whether that be your art class at two, your coffee date, or just exploring around our beautifully diverse campus.

Altogether, she kept her look comfortable and unique with stand out pieces mixed with staple ones. This Fashionista really killed the urban cool vibe that we see all around our city and campus.
