WHAT TO WEAR: Day To Night

August 10th, 2015 at 2:00am

With internships, work or even a busy day of classes, the last thing you want to be wasting your time on is changing your outfit so you can go out at the end of the day. Looks that can be taken into the later hours are a total time saver and provide the relief of not having to worry about planning a second outfit. I spotted today’s Fashionista wearing what I consider to be an outfit that acts as a canvas and is stylishly flexible enough to be transformed into a new look for when you go out.

When planning an outfit that can transition from day to night, having a neutral base is key. This Fashionista wore a muted gray jumpsuit in a soft material to keep her comfortable all day. Notice how it isn’t skin tight! Loose clothing will allow for movement and you won’t have to worry about any awkward areas or bulges that come with tight fitting garments. If you’re in a part of the world that is extra hot, a sleeveless jumpsuit is even better, like this Fashionista’s. As a general rule, look for pieces that have cinched waists when dealing with jumpsuits, rompers, or maxi dresses; it’ll keep you from looking completely straight up and down and add some curves.

Keeping in mind that a neutral base is ideal, this Fashionista also wore a pair of nude colored sandals. Shoes similar in color to your skin tone are an absolute must in my book! They are so versatile and are a great alternative to your classic black shoes. Whether they’re nude flats or pumps, nude is a color every Fashionista should own.

The accessories were kept simple with a pair of gorgeous diamond studs and some layered necklaces. Save the statement necklaces and earrings for when you go out at night! With an easy base for your outfit, adding on pieces for a night out becomes super easy. Try a black jacket or blazer, some killer heels or throw in a pop of color with a bright oversized clutch. You really can change it up however you want when you have such an easy foundation to work with.

One Simple Change: Throw on a chunky knit scarf and a cardigan for when fall rolls around. Swap the sandals for a pair of fashion sneakers and carry a fall colored bag. You’ll be set for the next season!
