WHAT TO WEAR: Day To Night

July 17th, 2015 at 2:00am

I often find that when my friends and I are getting dressed to go out, we are conflicted with the fact that a certain outfit looks too “daytime-y.” What does that even mean and why is it a bad thing? As evening wear trends evolve, I’m realizing that they are becoming more distinct than anything worn in daylight hours. Everything from a hairstyle to shoes gets classified as one or the other, day or night. This leaves girls who work or take summer classes all day with a dilemma as they search for an outfit that’s perfect for both.

If you’re feeling brave, I have a solution that will leave you looking amazing at any hour of the day. The key components are the color black and layering of jewelry. The two of these are notoriously nighttime trends, but they make for a very edgy outfit during the day. All this look takes is confidence and willingness to be a little daring when it comes to your daytime look, but the outcome is well worth it.

This Fashionista conquers the day to night look famously. Her black shift dress is simple and tasteful, and it makes for the perfect backdrop to allow the details in her clutch and jewelry to pop. She layered her jewelry strategically with mixed golds and silvers. Layering jewelry is a great way to add some texture and detail to a more simplistic outfit.

One Simple Change: Her black booties are perfect for a night out, but the only thing she could change about this outfit for the earlier hours of the day would be to swap them for a pair of black lace-up gladiator sandals.
