WHAT TO WEAR: Day To Night

March 23rd, 2015 at 2:05am

As college students, we are experiencing one of the busiest times of our young lives. Between classes, jobs, internships, extracurriculars and homework, we barely have time left to sleep. Because of this, our social lives are often put on the back burner. Dashing to and from our many responsibilities of the day can leave us disheveled, exhausted and ready to crash—far from feeling like going out. But when you’re desperate for a break, the temptation to join your friends for a drink can become impossible to resist. However, transforming from frazzled to polished in ten minutes flat is easier said than done. Thankfully, this Fashionista had the perfect outfit for transitioning from “Go” to “slow” when you just need to let loose after a long day.

The basis of this outfit is fashion’s best kept secret—all black. Starting with a black mock neck dress, she set a simple foundation for the rest of her look. Her tights add some warmth and keep the outfit work/internship/class appropriate, while her boots add a pop of style and fun to the look. The piece de resistance—her baby blue coat—brings it all together and adds a pop of color while keeping her from freezing in the moody weather.

This Fashionista’s outfit is a fantastic look for the professional situations of a college student’s life, but the real genius is its ability to switch from work to play at a moment’s notice. While it is undoubtedly polished and put-together, it is also just the right amount of fun to wear out with your friends. The black dress is just short enough to keep things exciting, and the black boots provide a high heel while adding a bit of funky style. Ditch the sweet blue coat for a black leather jacket, and you’ve got a sexy outfit that will knock ’em dead.

If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed and just need a night off, don’t let your outfit stand in your way. By wearing basic pieces with a little bit of flair, you can transition from day to night in ten seconds flat—and still be the hottest Fashionista wherever you go.

One Simple Change: Spring has sprung, and warmer weather is taking over our wardrobes. Switch the heavy coat for a light waistcoat and ditch the tights and boots for a lighter option.
