WHAT TO WEAR: Day To Night

What to Wear

Being a college student it is sometimes difficult to figure out what to wear because we have so many occasions in our day-to-day. It is even harder to balance your wardrobe if you are in the co-op program here at the University of Cincinnati. Many students on co-op have obligations after work, such as sorority and club meetings, dinner, or even a night out with your girlfriends. With the hectic lives we live there have to be outfits that can be functional.

Fashionistas are the best at showing off their functional fashion and more companies (like Lululemon) are coming out with lines for the working woman. This Fashionista pairs spring’s hot color, blush, with an elegant contrast of black. Also, this Fashionista proves that practical style for day to night is achievable. Minimalism and being conservative are both a workplace must that can easily make its way into your personal style.

Maxi skirts are blooming like the spring flowers here in Cincinnati along with Tory Burch flats. There is not one corner I turn on campus and do not see one or the other. One reason I believe this is such a popular Fashionista trend is because there are no other types of stylish shoes more practical than a flat. Also, maxi skirts are conservative enough to wear anywhere, whether it be class, work and meetings, etc. An outfit like this Fashionista’s, can be worn for any other professional, formal or even casual setting. This look would rock a first date or amaze your girlfriends, making them wonder just where you shop. But, as one infamous television show says: “That’s a secret I’ll never tell.”

One Simple Change: Bengals and Bearcat’s fans start your engines because tailgate season is right around the corner. Turn this day to night look into a chic hot dog eating, cold drink sipping and football-watching outfit in a matter of minutes with one simple change. Lose the maxi skirt (it reminds you too much of your hectic work week anyway) for a pair of high waist distressed shorts from Urban Outfitters. Secondly, because the weather is getting warmer opt for strappy brown sandal versus a closed toe flat and do not forget to polish those toes. Lastly, bring your finest accessory, a cross-body Rebecca Minkoff bag so you will never lose your belongings or purse for that matter. Also, bring your Ray-Ban sunnies that are screaming to be used after these long dreary months. Top it off with your most preppy Lily Pulitzer coozie. Happy tailgating!
