WHAT TO WEAR: Day to Night

One of my favorite quotes about fashion comes from Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto: “Black is modest and arrogant at the same time. Black is lazy and easy, but mysterious. But above all black says this: ‘I don’t bother you, don’t bother me.’”

Black is versatile; It can be paired with any color, making it easy to match with accessories. Black is powerful. You see someone wearing a monochrome outfit, and you think they are intimidating but fierce. When in doubt, I say go all-black. Contrary to some opinions, black is suitable for all occasions, a day to night one especially.

Perhaps now, winter break has ended and you’ve started your winter semester. Or, perhaps you are one of the lucky ones still on break. Regardless, there always will be times when we do not have enough time to head home and change to go out again. This Fashionista’s all black outfit makes her shine in the classroom and at a dinner date with friends.

The Fashionista wears a black fitted sweater with dark skinny jeans. Her leather thigh-high boots elongate her legs while adding an urban vibe to her look. Thigh-high boots are  a staple item for a night out on the town. As we have seen in Vogue, oversized coats are in this winter. This Fashionista wears a tan wool coat, replicating the elegant high fashion trend. To accessorize, this Fashionista keeps it simple. She wears a small pendant necklace and a leather band watch. Overall, her outfit is reminiscent of city life. Can’t you see Jourdan Dunn wearing this during New York Fashion Week?

One Simple Change: Too cold for just the coat? Switch up your accessories! Replace the necklace with a warm circle scarf and put on some leather gloves (black, of course).
