WHAT TO WEAR: Date Night

Fall dates are hands down the supreme victor of date nights. Apple picking, pumpkin carving, haunted house tours (at OU we have the infamous Ridges that keeps Halloween alive all year round) and hay rides are just a few of the many cheesy and romantic date ideas that couples embark on this fall season. But what if it’s your first date? That can be spooky enough without Halloween lingering around the corner. Not only are you worried whether or not this hot guy from your marketing class is actually as chill as he seems, but what do you wear?! Well, thank goodness fall fashion is the best fashion, especially when it comes to the perfect cute-casual look.

Take our Fashionista above, who is utilizing one of my all-time favorite fall trademarks: the blanket scarf. Blanket scarves keep you warm and stylish from the time the leaves fall till the flowers bloom, and there are so many choices! I have a bias towards neutral colors, but don’t be afraid to spice things up! Scarves are one of the greatest accessories the cold seasons have to offer.

Be warned: blanket scarves can become overwhelming when paired with too many other bold outfit pieces. So definitely take notes on our Fashionista, as she does the blanket scarf justice. Paired with a simple top, dark wash jeans and to-die-for booties, this outfit deserves an A+. While you could also pair this particular scarf with light wash jeans and a red or blue top, dark wash compliments the color scheme of this scarf. I also suggest going more towards dark wash for the cold season, as it coordinates best with most combat and riding boots.

In regard to the hot date you have this evening, having on hand a pair of booties with a slight heel is a great tactical move. I particularly love these booties, as they are open toe (perfect for OU weather, as the morning and evening temperatures differ by about ten degrees), yet have that classic, crisp fall appeal. Pair them with skinny jeans, and you’re golden.

To finish off her look, our Fashionista used a dark, fall lipstick that compliments her dark hair and outfit. This look especially stands out when the rest of your makeup is simple, as she has effortlessly done. Are you blonde? Go for a shade with a purple tint!
