WHAT TO WEAR: Concert

Summer has kicked off, and for many that means events to attend and activities to do. Let’s face it—summer is the time for us to let loose and enjoy ourselves after an intense few semesters of classes, exams, jobs and personal life. During the school year it’s easy to throw on a pair of exercise shorts and an oversized T-shirt than to actually take the time to get ready. I mean, you’re sitting in crowded classrooms all day, practically falling asleep in your chair: who really wants to be wearing a special outfit to do that?

During the summer, it is the perfect time of year to have a reason to get all dolled up! You get the chance to show off your eclectic style, the one that may have been hidden behind your tired, wore-this-to-bed-but-still-going-to-class-in-it-anyways self.

This Fashionista is definitely bringing a West Coast, music-festival vibe to her look. The bell sleeve, loose fitting peasant top is causal but still looks put together when incorporated with a pair of light wash shorts. Tucking in the shirt brings attention to the high waist, and adds cohesiveness to the look. Both are stylish throwbacks to the ’60s/early ’70s hippie era. The floppy hat and beaded necklace are simple accessories that dress up the look just enough to remain chic and trendy, but still could be worn to a fun event like an outdoor concert or summer festival. Throw in some cute sandals and she’s created an outfit tastefully inspired by those worn at Coachella.

One Simple Change: Are you having a more low-key weekend with your friends, such as a bonfire or small hangout? Add a pair of small earrings and ditch the floppy hat/necklace for a more laid back but still fashionable look.
