WHAT TO WEAR: Concert

‘Tis the season for outdoor summer music festivals. Grab your camera and bring out your inner bohemian flower child. After attending Governors Ball on Randall’s Island in New York City, I noticed some distinct fashion trends among concert go-ers, including an overall theme of re-using looks from the 1960s. In order to take everything you need for the day, I found that it was most beneficial to bring a trendy backpack filled with a reusable water bottle,  rain poncho, disposable camera and plenty of sunscreen!

Most girls seemed to outfit rompers, patterned shorts and high-waisted denim shorts or pants. Footwear varied, most sporting sheek sandals, boots, toms, or trendy sneakers. Decorative hair pieces worked well to highlight each look, floral hairpieces for a softer girly girl hipster vibe and metallic hairpieces for an edgier hardcore look. Temporary body flash tattoos and stickers were commonly worn to spice up each look.

This Fashionista is showing off some skin with a patterned sleeveless crop top, reminiscent of a ’90s tube top, but with a modern boho twist. The triple bar necklace works well to frame her face and complement her top. The sweater goes with the look and is definitely practical to bring to a concert with unpredictable weather. Her hat is a mix between a floppy hat and a fedora and pulls the whole outfit together. Simple Converse give the look a laid back vibe. Although the pattern of the cross body bag does not match the pattern of the shirt, it still works in this look and some sort of bag or backpack is necessary to bring to a music festival!

One Simple Change: If it is a hot summer day, pair the sleeveless crop top with high-waisted denim shorts and flip flops. Perfect for a day at the pool!
